Aquatech Scuba Center is a hidden gem that is off the radar in the Evansville area. Did you know that Aquatech is sought out worldwide for their training programs? Among other things, Aquatech has one of very few cave rebreather instructors in the world. Just think about the training our students will receive at the beginners levels.
Aquatech is dedicated to the diving industry. There are very few dive shops in the country that can offer more experienced instructors, logged dives, scuba levels available for instruction, and the commitment we have to our customers.
In November of 1996, Larry Babcock opened Aquatech Dive Center. Larry saw a need in the tri-state of a full service dive shop offering travel, equipment service, and cylinder refills, as well as a full line of inventory in stock at all times.
After observing the training that was currently available in the area, and studying how divers were being trained, he developed his training center to fit all divers’ needs and desires, from viewing pretty fish on a 20 foot reef in tropical waters or exploring deep ship wrecks and underwater caves. Regardless of an individual’s personal wants or needs, Larry wanted all of his students to be comfortable in the water while, at the same time, protecting the precious reefs of the world with good buoyancy control and skills.
In order to offer the best and most versatile classes, Larry next opened his own instructor training facility where he could train the instructors to meet his ideology, and that of SSI, of how a diver should be trained. Today, Aquatech has 8 highly trained instructors who have certified thousands and thousands of divers world wide.

In September of 2007, Larry moved his shop to a a larger location at 4314 Morgan Ave, Suite A, Evansville, Indiana 47715 where he could service his customers better. Wanting his customers to have the best equipment available, he continues to test various types of equipment in all different types of environments to see how it held up in those conditions.
